Launch of Murali Menon’s debut novel- The God Who Loved Motorbikes
Journalist and author Murali K Menon’s debut novel The God Who Loved Motorbikes enjoyed a rip-roaring launch.
The book was launched by superstar John Abraham, who took a day off from shooting his upcoming film Pagalpanti.
Abraham and the author have much in common. They are both motorcycle enthusiasts and have roots in Kerala.
Abraham recounted his days as a child making a two-and-a-half day, one way train journey to his hometown in Kerala with his family.
Menon’s book is part road trip and part magic realism. It’s about a local deity, KK Swamy, who takes off on a journey in search of the British classic motorcycle, the elusive Velocette Venom Thruxton HT. The mercurial motorcycle is said to have been tamed by Chowfin Singh, a large half-Sikh, half Chinese rider with nine holes ringing his belly button. The book is also about “passion, obsession and chasing one’s dreams,” said Menon.

Finally went barefoot and jumped in a barrel of freshly picked grapes at The Resort’s Grape stomping fest. Also tasted the different varieties of Grover Zampa vintage wines with the perfect pairing of flavoured cheese like Emmental, Brie, Camembert and English Cheddar. On the menu front we sampled delicious Mediterranean dishes like Bamia Bil Zait (Fried Okra with Garlic and Tomatoes), EggPlant Mousakka, Moroccan Chicken and Shawarma (Chicken). A perfect way to spend your Sunday with friends at the Grape Stomping and Wine Tasting Fest held at The Resort, Madh-Marve, Mumbai. Amazing service, engaging hospitality and an awesome experience. One line tagline – Cooking a meal for your loved ones has no gender inequality undertones. Gender equality and women’s empowerment are not just the Millennium Development Goals for the Nation, they start with each one of our homes. Being a family man, I have never thought that ‘Cooking in the Kitchen’ would make me less inferior from my better half. Having resided in Dubai for a long time of my life, we (as a couple) always took turns at managing the kitchen, especially dishing out our favorite meals for each other. The #IHeldThePan campaign hosted by @Wondercheflife gives Indian men an opportunity to feel proud of cooking a fancy meal for their loved ones. To take this challenge further, I would like to nominate dear friends of mine who for sure are good cooks and accept gender equality in a big way! @prithvishashar @indianfoodhacker @aman_7911 @connoisseur_foodie @deshmukhanish200 @sunnyslice @socialcrunchmumbai #wonderchefindia #wonderchefindia #genderequality #kitchenequality #gendergap #kitchendiaries #IHeldthePan #DearManHoldThePan
