Sreemoyee Piu Kundu has a winner with her book CUT: The Life and Death of a Theatre Activist
Sreemoyee Piu Kundu created a storm with her book “Sita’s Curse” which not just raised eyebrows but also coveted her with the title of ‘Queen of Erotica’ in literary circles. Surely not something which she wanted to be known as, Sreemoyee has come up with her next book which hits on totally different perspectives of the theatre world.
The book launch of CUT: The Life and Death of a Theatre Activist was surely an interesting one, with an invigorating passage reading session which gave some highlights on the book. Sreemoyee came across as a confident, articulate and impressive writer. Her ethnic attire with a creatively-cut blouse depicted her fashion panache which comes from her previous stint being a fashion writer. A stand-out appearance for sure, not to mention the perfectly executed event.
Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal, Mona Ambegaonkar, and Joy Sengupta read passages from the book while writer-director Vinta Nanda ably hosted the show.
Published by Bloomsbury, the CUT book launch was attended by writer, director and panelist for the launch, Vinta Nanda who spoke about the book and the manifestation of plot that was intriguing as well as highly fascinating.
“I am very fascinated by the tapestry of the book and of the characters and I find that each one of them, whether it is Sarla, Amitava, RK, or Maya, all of them have a certain distinct quality which fits into the world that Sri has created and also, it doesn’t fit into the world. So that struggle that intrigues me, they are happily there but at the same time, they are just struggling to be there, so I just love CUT”.
The book launch was the talk of the town, graced by celebrities Ananya Dutt, Dolly Thakur, Suzanne Bernert, Kamalika Guhathakuratha, Meghana Pant, Neelam Kumar and Nandita Puri with book reading sessions carried out by Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal, Mona Ambegaonkar, and Joy Sengupta.
AryemanSaysSo – The event surely has impressed me with the highlights of the book. Would surely read and review the book in a week. Great job, Sreemoyee – you are all set to storm the world with your panache!!
